
Sand Buffer Silo
## Product Overview
Sand Buffer Silo is an intermediate caching silo specially designed for quartz filter sand, manufactured sand, aggregate and mine backfilling sand. It acts as a flow balancing station between upstream conveying equipment and downstream dosing/processing units, resolving production instability caused by unmatched feeding & discharging capacity, intermittent operation and equipment downtime.
Different from long-term storage silos, this buffer tank holds sand stock for 10–60 minutes of continuous running to guarantee steady, uninterrupted sand supply for subsequent processes. Equipped with internal anti-impact buffer baffles, wear-resistant lining, anti-bridging discharge system and full-set dust removal device, it avoids particle segregation, severe silo abrasion, flying dust and material blockage. Vertical and horizontal customized models are available to fit plants with limited height or compact layout, widely adopted in water treatment, concrete batching plants, sand production lines and underground mine backfilling projects.
## Working Principle
1. **Production Flow Balancing & Caching**
When upstream conveyors deliver sand faster than downstream consumption, surplus sand is temporarily stored inside the silo. If front-end equipment stops temporarily, reserved sand inside maintains stable discharge and prevents downstream lines from halting production.
2. **Internal Baffle Buffering & Homogenization**
Multi-layer inclined buffer baffles slow down falling sand to cut vertical impact force on the silo cone and lining. Sand particles of different sizes roll and mix evenly over baffles to eliminate coarse-fine separation, ensuring consistent grain composition of output sand.
3. **Anti-Bridging Smooth Discharge System**
The silo hopper adopts large-angle inclined design, fitted with aeration fluidization plates and air cannons to eliminate dead material zones, rat-holing and sand clogging. Pneumatic gate valves at the bottom precisely regulate stable sand flow rate.
4. **Closed Dust-Free Operation & Real-Time Stock Monitoring**
A top pulse bag dust collector fully captures sand dust generated during feeding to meet environmental emission standards. Radar level transmitters monitor residual sand volume in real time and trigger low-material automatic alarms, supporting linkage with plant DCS control system.
