According to the information, there are more than 1,000 waste – to – energy (WTE) plants in China.
As of May 2025, the number of operational WTE plants on the Chinese mainland is approximately 1,064, with a total treatment capacity of 1.07 million tons per day, accounting for 63% of the global municipal solid waste incineration power – generation treatment capacity. Shandong Province has the largest number of WTE plants in the country, with 103, followed by Hebei Province with 73 and Zhejiang Province with 72.
