How an Incineration WTE Plant Works

How an Incineration WTE Plant Works
  • 1. Waste Reception:
Waste collection vehicles deliver waste to the plant, where it is weighed and stored in a bunker.

  • 2. Combustion:
A grab crane feeds the waste into a combustion chamber.

  • 3. Steam Generation:
The heat from combustion boils water in boilers, creating superheated steam.

  • 4. Electricity Production:
The steam turns a turbogenerator, which produces electricity that is fed into the power grid.

  • 5. Flue Gas Cleaning:
Advanced systems clean the hot gases, removing dust, pollutants, heavy metals, and acidic components before they are released into the atmosphere.

  • 6. Ash Management:
The remaining ash is treated, and metals are often recovered for recycling, while the ash can be used as aggregate for construction.
